Mets vs. Dodgers score, live updates: NLCS Game 2 in Los Angeles as New York looks to tie the series

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff has been the talk of the MLB over the past three games, with LA's pitchers setting an MLB postseason record with 33 straight scoreless innings. They'll try to keep the New York Mets off the field again in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday in Los Angeles (4:08 p.m. ET on Fox).

It wasn't just the Dodgers' arms that dominated in the 9-0 win in Game 1; The stars at the top of the Los Angeles lineup did the heavy lifting on offense. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman combined to go 5-for-11 with three walks and five RBI. Enrique Hernández also added two hits and two runs at the bottom of the lineup.

Ryan Brasier (1-0, 4.91 ERA, 3.2 IP in the 2024 playoffs) will start for the Dodgers, a role he has only filled four other times this year, all in the regular season. Sean Manaea (1-0, 2.25 ERA, 12.0 IP) gets the ball for the Mets.

Live8 updates

  • Sean Manaea walked Teoscar Hernandez but pitched an otherwise clean first inning with strikeouts by Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts. Mets lead 1-0 after one inning.

  • Dodgers narrowly miss new postseason record

The Dodgers were just one inning away from setting a new postseason record for consecutive scoreless innings. Before Lindor's home run, they hadn't allowed a run since the second inning of Game 3 against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS.

Three straight shutouts followed, including Sunday's 9-0 win over the Mets in Game 1 of the NLCS, snapping a streak of 33 consecutive scoreless innings. That set an MLB postseason record. Lindor's home run ensured they did not claim a new record.

Ryan Brasier limited the damage to one run, and we reach the bottom of the ninth with the Mets leading 1-0.

  • Francisco Lindor leads off with a home run

The shutout streak is over. Francisco Lindor led off the first inning with a solo home run off Dodgers starter Ryan Brasier. The run is the first the Dodgers have allowed in 33 postseason innings. New York takes an early 1-0 lead.

  • On an ideal day for baseball in Los Angeles, we're just minutes from first pitch. It's 72 degrees and sunny at Dodger Stadium. Ryan Brasier warms up on the mound to start the first inning.

  • Clayton Kershaw plans to pitch in 2025

Not relevant to today's game, but three-time Dodgers Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw said before Game 2 that he plans to return for an 18th MLB season in 2025.

  • Dodgers looking for MLB history

A scoreless first inning for Ryan Brasier would extend the Dodgers' streak of consecutive scoreless innings this postseason to 34, which would be an MLB record. The Dodgers haven't allowed a run since the second inning of Game 3 against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS.

The Dodgers have posted three straight shutouts, including Sunday's Game 1 win over the Mets. That adds up to 33 consecutive scoreless innings, which is the longest postseason streak in MLB history. One more inning and the record belongs to the Dodgers alone.

  • Bullpen game for Dodgers

Reliever Ryan Brasier will start for the Dodgers in a bullpen game. The decision means Walker Buehler is expected to start Game 3 in New York.

Here is the Dodgers' lineup for Game 2, with Teoscar Hernández moving to third and Freddie Freeman cleaning up:

  • Sean Manaea is starting for the Mets

The Mets will start Sean Manaea on the mound to even the series after losing Game 1. Manaea pitched seven one-run innings in New York's Game 3 win over the Phillies in the NLDS.
