The 2024 MLB Gold Glove winners in the American League and National League were announced Sunday evening.

The 60 finalists for the annual awards for the majors' best defensemen were first announced on October 15.

The criteria for determining the winners remained the same compared to previous years. Thirty MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team voted from a pool of players from their league, excluding players from their own team.

These votes made up 75 percent of the total selection. The SABR Defensive Index accounted for the other 25 percent.

Here is the full list of winners:

C: Cal Raleigh, Seattle Mariners

1B: Carlos Santana, Minnesota Twins

2B: Andres Giménez, Cleveland Guardians

14 players became first-time winners, tied with 2022 and the most players in a single year since the awards were introduced. It is worth noting that the utility position was also introduced in 2022.

No team had more than two winners in each league.

Christian Walker, Ian Happ, Matt Chapman, Brenton Doyle, Steven Kwan and Andrés Giménez were the only players to receive a Gold Glove, having previously won one in 2023.

At 38 years old, Carlos Santana became the oldest position player to win his first Gold Glove. He was also the first member of the Twins to receive this honor since 2017.

Giménez secured his third consecutive Gold Glove after completing another strong defensive season with the Guardians. He led the majors with 21 outs above average. Giménez also finished with 20 defensive runs saved, trailing only Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers for the best mark among any second baseman in 2024.

Turang also earned some hardware as the 24-year-old also led all infielders with 22 defensive runs saved.

After leading the Kansas City Royals to their first postseason appearance since the team's World Series title in 2015, Bobby Witt Jr. earned the first Gold Glove victory of his career. In addition to his incredible offensive season, which included 32 home runs and 109 RBIs and a .332 batting average, Witt ranked first among AL shortstops in 2024 with 16 outs above average.

He beat out 2023 winner Anthony Volpe of the New York Yankees and Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians.

Chris Sale and Seth Lugo received the honor as pitchers in their respective leagues. Sale didn't commit a single error in 177.2 innings of work with the Braves in 2024 (per Baseball-Reference).

Along with Lugo, the eight-time All-Star also finished the season with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
