NBA Value Picks: Johnny Juzang

If you're looking for value on a particular fantasy basketball roster, there are generally two places you should start looking. First and foremost, look for a team that has been decimated by injuries – particularly to key players. Second, take a look at the worst teams in the league. Those who have no motivation to win and therefore may experiment with rotations.

Well, on Monday's eight-game slate, it just so happens that the Utah Jazz check both boxes.

SG/SF Johnny Juzang, Utah Jazz to Chicago Bulls, $3,500

Of course, if you're trying to get value out of Jazz on Monday, you'll need to keep an eye on its status Lauri Markkanen ($7,800; back). The former All-Star has missed the team's last two games and is listed as questionable for tonight's meeting with the Bulls. As expected, Markkanen played a big role in his first four contests, posting a 25.2% usage rate and leading Utah with 18.0 points per game. The other big name on the Jazz's injury report is Jordan Clarkson (heel). The microwave scorer will be out for at least a week with plantar fasciitis, so there's no chance he'll be fit again on Monday. This is where Johnny Juzang comes into play. In Utah's first game without Clarkson's services on Saturday, Juzang led the team's reserves in minutes (26.8), points (17) and field goal attempts (9). This corresponded to 25.5 FPTS. If he wants to take on the Clarkson role, Juzang has real appeal, especially if it comes with a thrifty price tag. This is also a very nice matchup. Chicago has the fastest pace in the NBA (106.6), so there should be a lot of possession in this game.
