Near record warmth for Metro Detroit with lots of sunshine to start the week

4Weather warning – After a wonderful weekend with sunshine all day on Sunday and warmer temperatures, we will continue the trend towards above-average temperatures in the forecast for the next few days.

Dry weather will persist for the first few days of next week. A lot of sunshine is expected on Monday, a little more clouds will appear until Tuesday, but the sky will still be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. High temperatures will move into the lower 80s on Monday and then fall to the lower 70s by Tuesday.

We forecast high temperatures of 80° for Monday. The record high temperature for Metro Detroit is 81°. So we will be approaching the record temperature, but at this point we don't expect to break the record temperature today.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny skies. Almost record heat across the region. High: 80. Wind: Southwest 5-10 MPH.

MONDAY EVENING: Mainly clear skies. Low: 54. Wind: Southwest 3-6 MPH

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny skies. High: 77. Wind: South 5-10 MPH.

TUESDAY EVENING: Partly cloudy skies. Low: 56. Southwest 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 20 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy skies, cooler temperatures set in. High: 69. Winds: West 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH.

We'll include some more cloud cover in the forecast and look toward midweek as our cold front rolls through the region. This will result in a drop in temperatures mid-week, but Thursday and Friday will see temperatures drop significantly more towards the end of the week

High temperatures will drop back into the 50s by Thursday and warm back up to the 60s by the end of the week.

Looking ahead to next weekend we think there is a chance of a light shower, but for most it looks like we will be dry at the moment. Temperatures will remain high into the 60s through Saturday and Sunday.
