Netflix teases “Jentry Chau” with new trailer and December premiere date

With Halloween just around the corner, Netflix has released the teaser trailer for a suitably supernatural animated treat: Jentry Chau vs Underworld. The 2D series aimed at children and families premieres December 5th.

The preview spot introduces us to the not-so-typical teenage girl Jentry who has to face her literally Demons in the magically charged new action-adventure series from Echo Wu, which won a Silver Medal Student Academy Award, an Emmy Student Award and a BAFTA Student Award for its animated short film The Wish Granter (Ringling College of Art and Design). The teaser also features a new song from the K-pop star Jessititled “3X (세번),” which will be featured on the show.

“Sometimes finding your identity means facing your own demons,” Wu told Netflix fandom outlet TUDUM. “That means different levels. In Jentry, that sounds quite right. She tries to figure out what these powers mean to her. Are they part of her? Do they curse them? You see this character trying to figure out who he is.”

The series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Ali Wong), a Chinese-American teenager living in a small Texas town learns that a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she has spent her life trying to suppress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now battle the monsters of an entire underworld while dealing with the horrors of high school.

The voice cast is also included Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucy Liu, Jimmy O Yang, Sheng Wang, Woosung Kim And AJ Beckles.

Jentry Chau against the underworld is animated by Titmouse, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers alongside Wu, Wong and Aron Eli Coleite.
