New Video Shows Ballot Box Exploding in Vancouver, Officials Call It a 'Bomb Attack'

Footage from C-TRAN cameras shows smoke rising from the ballot box at Fisher's Landing Transit Center shortly after someone passes by. Less than 30 seconds after the car drove away, the ballot box exploded.

KATU obtained the video Monday through a public records request from the Department of Transportation.

The FBI office in Portland is leading the investigation. The agency released a statement last week after the incident: “The U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI want to assure our communities that we are working closely and expeditiously to investigate the two ballot box fires in Vancouver, Washington, and the United States.” one in Portland, Oregon, and we will work to ensure that whoever is responsible is held fully accountable.”

Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey told KATU last week that the explosion did not deter voters from using ballot drop boxes.

Last week, he said, after “the ballot box bombing in Fisher's Landing … voters began using the ballot box in person more than we saw in 2020.”

On the eve of Election Day, Kimsey told KATU that the county recovered 494 ballot remnants from the burned mailbox, six of which were unidentifiable. The remaining 488 had voter identification information contacted by the comptroller's office.
