NFL fines 49ers' Nick Bosa for wearing pro-Trump hat during interview

After Sunday's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, 49ers defensive lineman Nick Bosa had a message for Football on Sunday eveningsTV audience. Bosa crashed his teammates' postgame interview with NBC, sporting a pro-Donald Trump hat with the slogan “Make America Great Again.”

However, his gesture ahead of Tuesday's presidential election between the former president and Vice President Kamala Harris may have violated NFL guidelines for political activity.

According to a report from CBS's Jonathan Jones on Friday afternoon, the league is considering a possible fine against Bosa for his actions.

“A possible fine will not be decided until the end of next week. I have been told that a possible suspension is not being considered,” Jones wrote.

As several media outlets have reported since Sunday, the NFL rulebook includes the following statute: “The (NFL) does not grant any club or player permission to wear, display, or otherwise transmit messages to helmet decals, armbands, jersey patches, etc. Mouthpieces or other items attached to playing uniforms or equipment relating to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns.

Bosa, for his part, had little to say about the episode.

“I won’t talk about it too much, but I think it’s an important time,” he said.
