Sneaky signs are part of a campaign of confusion

There appears to be no end to the depths to which Ohio's Republican Party will sink.

After Frank LaRose's unethical rewording of Issue 1, the Republican Party is now putting up signs that say “Stop Gerrymandering. NO to Issue 1.” It is a lie and a deliberate attempt to confuse voters.

The party that constantly claims election interference without evidence is itself constantly implicated in ongoing election interference.

This is another example of the corruption of the Ohio Republican Party, whose former House speaker and party chairman is in prison for accepting bribes from FirstEnergy.

Don’t fall for the Ohio Republican Party’s deceptions. Vote “yes” to point 1.

Choosing is a subsequent act

In her closing speech at the Ellipse, Kamala Harris invoked America's past heroes and the victims of Normandy.

It reminded me of my own father, who spent nearly two years at a miserable air base in New Guinea, enduring regular attacks from Japanese bombers, oppressive heat, disease and supply shortages.

But for all his trials and courage, he never came within 1,300 miles of Tokyo and the fascist ruler of Japan. Unlike my father, I did not serve, but in this election I, along with millions like me, have the opportunity to strike at the heart of a fascist threat and stop a would-be dictator.

We have the luxury of simply going to the polls to protect our country rather than engaging in brutal battles on the battlefield. And while we are not called upon to make the sacrifices of our parents and grandparents, the simple act of voting in this election can have equally momentous consequences.Jack Freda, Hilliard

Get better candidates

In response to opinion editor Amelia Robinson's column and to Republicans and Democrats who say voting for third-party/minority candidates is a wasted vote: I say, then get better candidates.

I mean, it wouldn't be that hard. And yes, they are both equally bad. It's not my fault that 95% of people are too biased or blind to see this.

We're not going back

Americans of all races, places and parties value our freedoms.

That's why we said, “We're not going back” — and the MAGA Republicans are panicking. They are deliberately erecting barriers to deny us the freedom to vote, spreading lies to sow doubt about an election they fear they could lose and trying to distract from their unpopular agenda aimed at depriving us of ours to take liberties.

We will not allow them to silence our voices.

We will turn out at the polls in record numbers, demand that poll workers count and certify every vote, and swear with Kamala Harris to protect our freedoms, our families, and our future.
