Fleming started the last two seasons for the Buckeyes after overcoming shoulder injuries that limited him early in his career. Between 2023 and 2022, he caught 60 passes for 803 yards and six touchdowns.

A native of Catawissa, Pennsylvania, Fleming was a finalist for Penn State in his first recruitment.

Fleming was a five-star wide receiver in the 2020 class and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country.

When he was transferred, he said: “My family is here. Grandfather is getting older and my sisters are growing up. So it was important to me that they could only be an hour away and come to all the games.”

Penn State coach James Franklin said this week that the game was important for Fleming.

“Any time you play an opponent where a member of our team comes from that school, I sit here and say it's not a big moment for that person,” Franklin said. “Julian is a super mature guy. He was really good in our locker room. I am very, very proud of him. I'm very glad he's here. But for us, I don’t want Julian to treat this game any differently than he treated Wisconsin.”
