Olivia Rodrigo opens up about Stage Fall hospital visit on 'The Tonight Show'

The musician revealed that she went to the hospital to make sure she didn't have a concussion, ultimately making a connection between her nurse and her late grandfather

For Olivia Rodrigo, everything happens for a reason – even if it means taking a brutal jump into an open hole on stage on your world tour. Earlier this month, the musician fell through a trapdoor on stage during her concert in Melbourne, Australia. Rodrigo witnessed the viral moment during her recent appearance The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and described in detail the subsequent preventive hospital visit that changed her perspective.

“It was actually a beautiful thing and looking back, I’m really glad it happened,” she said. “That was my next stop – Australia after the Philippines. I thought about my family, my origins and my relatives. And I feel and I was very upset. I went to the hospital afterward, nothing happened, but they just wanted to make sure I didn't have a concussion. And the nurse happened to be a Filipino man with the same name as my grandfather who just passed away a few months ago. I thought, wow, he was looking out for me and making sure I didn't get hurt. I’m really glad it happened.”

Rodrigo's performance at the Philippine Arena in Manila was the biggest of her career, but also the most meaningful. It was her first visit to the country and she ensured that all tickets were available at affordable prices for her fans there and performed in front of more than 50,000 people.
