On/off weekend rain… Strong/severe storms are possible on Monday!

This weekend looks pretty cloudy and a bit gloomy, with occasional light rain and perhaps a few isolated afternoon thunderstorms. The big weather changes and stronger storms won't arrive until Monday when our next cold front moves through. Severe weather is possible on Monday, including damaging winds, developing tornadoes and localized flooding, particularly along/east of I-35 during the afternoon hours. Keep an eye on the forecast until Monday!

Heavy clouds and drizzle are expected today as the weekend begins, with a chance of light rain this morning. It could become a little more active in the afternoon, especially east of I-35, but we probably won't see any severe weather yet. However, there is a *possibility* of one or two stronger storms forming this afternoon, especially as the sun peaks at times throughout the day.

As we move into Sunday, expect a similar pattern: morning clouds and drizzle, with a few storms possibly moving in from the west in the afternoon. Some storms are caused by damaging winds, hail and locally heavy rain. The real action will take place late Sunday and Monday, when a severe wave of thunderstorms is expected, which could bring severe weather and localized flooding.

A strong line of storms could develop Monday as a cold front moves across Central Texas. There is a risk of damaging winds and possibly even tornadoes, especially east of I-35. It's a good idea to stay alert and have ways to get weather updates. After the front passes Monday evening, cooler and drier weather is expected for a few days. We'll see the rain end Tuesday morning and we'll start the day in the 50s. 40s in the morning through Wednesday!

Highs on Election Day are expected to be in the upper 60s/low 70s with drier conditions expected, but look for a new storm system approaching later in the week that will keep us in a wet/active pattern.
