Dillon Gabriel and No. 3 Oregon's defense survived a thrilling back-and-forth game against No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday night, winning 32-31 at Autzen Stadium.

Atticus Sappington hit a 19-yard field goal with 1:47 to play to give the Ducks (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) the lead. It was the seventh lead change of the game and the fourth of the second half.

The Buckeyes (5-1, 2-1) pushed into Oregon territory in the final minute, but an offensive pass interference penalty put them out of field goal range and Ohio State couldn't answer.

Gabriel passed for 341 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a 27-yard score to give the Ducks the lead.

Oregon vs. Ohio State score updates

The Ducks scored the go-ahead field goal with 1:47 to play and then held on for the win as the Buckeyes ran out of time trying to get into field goal range.

Atticus Sappington kicked a 19-yard field goal with 1:47 to play as the Ducks went up. The field goal capped an 11-play, 74-yard drive for Oregon, which had a first-and-goal from the Ohio State 9 but couldn't get into the end zone.

Jayden Fielding hit a 40-yard field goal for the Buckeyes with 6:00 to play as the lead changed for the sixth time. Oregon will get the ball with enough time to score.

Dillon Gabriel ran for a 27-yard score on third-and-2 to give the Ducks a 13:20 lead heading into the fourth quarter. It was the fifth lead change of the game.

The Ducks will begin the fourth quarter with the ball at their own 40.

Dillon Gabriel threw an incomplete pass on fourth-and-goal at the Ohio State 2 as the Ducks missed a prime scoring opportunity. The Buckeyes got the ball back with 3:37 left in the third quarter.

QB Will Howard scrambled to his right and found WR Jeremiah Smith in the end zone for the 6-yard touchdown with 9:27 left in the third quarter as the Buckeyes took the lead for the fourth time today.

The receiver was ejected from the game after spitting in the face of Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun following an off-ball play.

Oregon freshman tight end Roger Saleapaga recovered a fumbled squib kick at the Ohio State 41. A few plays later, Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected from the game for spitting on an Ohio State player.

Stewart also had a 69-yard catch-and-run to initially get the ball inside the 10-yard line. Kenyon Sadiq was unable to convert on the 2-point conversion attempt as he was just one yard from the goal line on a direct snap run.

Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins scored on a 1-yard run in the first minute of the second quarter. The drive included two runs by TreVeyon Henderson for a total of 70 yards.

The Buckeyes have the ball at the Ducks' 2-yard line when play resumes at the start of the second quarter.

Atticus Sappington missed a 44-yard field goal attempt with 47 seconds left in the first quarter as the Ducks turned the ball over at the Ohio State 28.

Ohio State was warned for two false starts and a delay of game on its ensuing drive and was forced to punt on fourth-and-17 from its own 18-yard line.

Two plays after the turnover, Jordan James scored on a 3-yard run with 5:51 left in the first quarter. James opened the drive with a 25-yard run to the Buckeyes' 3-yard run. The Ducks botched the point-after when the snap was dropped by the holder.

Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon hit Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins head-on at the line of scrimmage and ripped the ball out of his hands for a strip and fumble recovery. Oregon ball at the Buckeyes' 28 with 6:39 left in the first quarter.

The Ducks managed just 18 yards and a first down in six plays before their opening drive faltered at their own 43 yards.

The Buckeyes scored on their first possession of the game when quarterback Will Howard reached the end zone on a 1-yard run. The drive included a fourth-down conversion by Ohio State at its own 44 when Howard ran for the yard he needed.

The Ducks' star defenseman is on the sideline on crutches, days after reportedly injuring himself in practice. He was listed as questionable earlier Saturday.

The Ducks won the toss and moved into the second half. Kick-off is just a few minutes away.
