Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel barely holds the Big Ten touchdown lead due to the surprise transfer

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel will look to maintain his narrow Big Ten touchdown lead heading into Week 10's matchup against Michigan. Through the start of the month, Gabriel has thrown 23 touchdowns, compared to Ohio State's Will Howard, who has 22.

The Ducks are undefeated and remain No. 1 in the nation. They also play the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Buckeyes and earned a 32-31 win on October 12 in Eugene.

There's a chance both teams could face each other again in the Big Ten title game in a month. The Buckeyes' lone loss puts them in a position where they have little to no room for error down the stretch.

They have a tough test against Penn State in State College, which could very well be a win-or-miss scenario that lands the team in Indianapolis. Indiana is still undefeated and visits Michigan State this week. Meanwhile, Illinois is looking for its seventh win to keep its conference title hopes alive.

Be that as it may, Gabriel's impressive season cannot go unnoticed and makes him one of the best players in the country.

Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel was called “rare” by Ducks teammates

Gabriel's teammate, WR Tez Johnson, believes Gabriel is a “rare” talent and shared this in an interview with On SI.

“Very creative,” Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson told Bri Amaranthus. “We are becoming more and more dynamic every week. I feel like it's just the quarterback we have – how he comes up with new plays every day. He's just always willing to try the craziest things to see if it works… We're going out there. “Be there right away on Saturday and score (Gabriel's game). That gives us a lot of confidence that we can do pretty much anything.”

It's hard to disagree with Tez. What he described is what we've seen all season from Gabriel, who led the Ducks to No. 1 in the country this Tuesday and potentially No. 1 in the premier College Football Playoff rankings.
