Passenger tries to open plane door during flight and is brutally beaten

He received a mile-high club blow.

An unruly passenger was beaten to a pulp after trying to open the emergency door on a flight from Brazil to Panama, as seen in a viral X-video that hit online.

“One flight attendant started screaming and another tried to hold him back but couldn't because he was too strong,” said 51-year-old photojournalist Cristiano Carvalho, who recorded the chaotic scene.

The riot reportedly occurred on Tuesday morning aboard a Copa Airlines flight CM204 from Brasilia to Panama City, Panama.

“The crew acted quickly and, with the assistance of some passengers, applied the necessary safety protocols to keep the situation under control until landing in Panama,” Copa Airlines officials said. “Thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the safety of the flight and the passengers could be guaranteed.” Press jam

The flight was going smoothly until 30 minutes before landing, when the flier stormed to the back of the plane with a plastic knife from his food tray and attempted to take a flight attendant hostage, aiming to open the plane door.

“After the warning, he walked past the rear emergency door,” Carvalho recalls. “Then he started moving forward and trying to open it.”

Passengers then jumped to help and fought the man to prevent him from attempting to get out apparently prematurely.

Although they initially struggled with the man's strength, the sky-high Samaritans eventually managed to restrain the airhead after beating him bloody.

“They beat him so many times that he almost lost consciousness,” Carvalho described.

Accompanying footage shows passengers holding the struggling plane, whose face is visibly bloody, while crew members bind his wrists.

In a recent statement, Copa Airlines officials claimed after landing in Panama: “The national security team entered the aircraft, extracted the passenger and brought him to the judicial authorities.”

Subsequent photos taken after landing show authorities escorting the battered perpetrator from the plane in handcuffs.

The airline has since praised both crew members and passengers for coming together to stop the mile-high hell.

“The crew acted quickly and, with the assistance of some passengers, applied the necessary safety protocols to keep the situation under control until landing in Panama,” the spokesman said. “Thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the safety of the flight and the passengers could be guaranteed.”

In a similar incident in Australia in August, a nervous passenger was arrested after he “ripped open” the emergency exit of a grounded plane and walked along its wing.
