What a year it has been for Paula Badosa. After recovering from a serious back injury in the second half of last season and falling down the pecking order, 2024 was a time of change and resurgence for Badosa.

As of this week she is back in the top 15 and can make a late bid for a place at the 2024 WTA Finals, something that would not have been possible just a few months ago. Since the beginning of August, she has been one of the WTA's strongest players on hard courts and has won an impressive 18 hard court games.

Badosa started her Asian momentum at the China Open two weeks ago and reached the semifinals, where she lost to eventual world champion Coco Gauff.

Ajla Tomljanovic has also struggled with injury issues throughout her career and this year, so it's nice to see her have a purple patch of late. The Australian recently won the 125km tournament in Hong Kong and has won five games in the past week. She is not a player who struggles with confidence.

Tomljanovic is 19-17 this season and will be playing in Wuahn for the third time in her career. She has never won a main draw match at this event.

She plays her best tennis on a fast hard court and will look to set the tone with her fast serve. If Badosa has a rare day off, this could be a very difficult contest. That being said, Badosa should win this game, but betting on the Aussie to win a set here will double the return.
