People are registering to vote in the November election before Friday's deadline

Friday is the last day to register for people who want to vote in the November election.

Most election offices and tag agencies will be closed for the day, but there is still time as the Rogers County Election Board will be open until midnight Friday.

Many voters say it's important to make your voice heard, regardless of who you vote for. Registering to vote is the first step in doing so.

The Tulsa County Board of Elections was full of people either wanting to register to vote or checking and making sure their registrations were ready for Election Day.

For some voters, like Julian Wycliffe-Williams, Friday was a big day.

“It’s the first time I’ve registered to vote,” Julian Wycliffe-Williams said. “I am married to a US citizen and waited five years until I received my citizenship in March. So this was the first year I was able to do that. “From the country you come from, you were allowed to vote, like I was from South Africa. But for five years you haven’t been able to vote here to make an impact.”

She says registration was easy and smooth.

“She even said, 'Do you want me to check it and make sure it's right,' and I said, 'Yes, please,'” Wycliffe-Williams said. “She checked. It literally took me two minutes to go in and come out. I am so impressed with this service.

Volunteers also lined the streets trying to get last-minute registrations.

There, people could fill out forms that were submitted and processed by the County Election Board.

“I think it's important for people to exercise their right to vote,” said Ed Rossman, a volunteer. “I see it as a civic obligation. It is important for their future and the future of their children. My grandchildren’s.”

Voters say it's important to make sure your voice is heard because every vote counts – and everyone has a different perspective.

“So if things don’t go the way I want, I can’t blame myself,” Rhonda Maslonka said. “I have to cast my vote to say that I was a part of it.”

No matter what county you live in, you have until midnight Friday to register with the Rogers County Election Board.

Election day is Tuesday, November 5th.
