Petrol and diesel are likely to become cheaper in several places for this reason – check details | India News

New Delhi: The Oil Manufacturing Companies (OMCs) have decided to increase the dealer commission paid to petrol pump dealers. This move is expected to benefit consumers in remote areas of the country as prices of petrol and diesel are likely to witness a significant decline.

“#IndianOil is pleased to announce a revision to dealer margins (effective October 30, 2024) following the resolution of a pending litigation. This will have no additional impact on the retail selling price of the Products. This will further strengthen our collective resolve to improve customer service standards and welfare of employees employed in retail outlets,” Indian Oil Corp Ltd wrote on X on Tuesday.

“Furthermore, our commitment to provide consistently affordable petrol and diesel across the country is a testament to Nation First’s core value and has borne fruit. #IndianOil has undertaken intra-state rationalization of freight which will reduce the fluctuation in retail selling prices of products in different markets within a state, except in regions where a model code of conduct is in force. Happy festivities!” added the Indian oil.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri welcomed the announcement and said it was a Dhanteras gift for the people.

“On the occasion of the auspicious Dhanteras festival, a big gift from oil companies to petrol pump dealers is warmly welcomed! The demand that has existed for 7 years has been fulfilled!” The Union Minister wrote on X.

He added that consumers would get better services but petrol and diesel prices would not increase.

He said that this is also an important decision by oil majors to streamline inter-state freight movement to help consumers who are located in remote places far from the petrol and diesel depots of oil marketers, adding that thereby petrol and diesel would become cheaper for consumers in many places.

He pointed out that the increase in dealer commission will improve the service for about 7 million citizens who visit our fuel retail stores in the country every day without increasing fuel prices.

Hardeep Singh Puri further said that fulfillment of this seven-year-old demand will bring joy and happiness in the lives of petrol pump dealers and the nearly 10 lakh employees working at more than 83,000 petrol pumps across the country.

“The path for these historic decisions was paved by positive decisions taken by the Modi government and all petrol dealer associations, which came together at our meetings over the last few months and agreed to withdraw all pending litigation related to issues relating to the Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDGs),” the added Union Minister added.
