Preview: Switzerland vs. Denmark – forecast, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Nations League clash between Switzerland and Denmark, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Both Switzerland And Denmark will try to recover from the defeats of the year Group 4 of League A when they lock horns in them UEFA Nations League on Tuesday evening.

Switzerland, bottom of the group, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Serbia on Saturday, while second-placed Denmark conceded a late goal 0-1 defeat to European champions Spain.

Switzerland impressed at Euro 2024, reaching the quarter-finals of the competition, but were beaten on penalties by England, missing out on a chance to reach the final for the first time in their history.

Murat YakinSince the summer competition, the country's team has struggled for results and performances, losing all three games against Denmark, Spain and Serbia while conceding eight goals.

Switzerland lost 2-0 to Serbia on Saturday and is in last place in Group 4 of League A, four points behind third-placed Serbia and seven points ahead of Spain at the top of the table.

The A team also competed in League A of the 2022–23 competition and finished third in their group, but there is a possibility of relegation to League B for the next Nations League.

Switzerland will try to avoid a fifth straight defeat on Tuesday before concluding their group stage with ties against Serbia and Spain in November.

Denmark came close to taking a point against Spain on Saturday evening, but Martin Zubimendi's volley in the 79th minute of the contest secured victory for Luis de la Fuente's page.

The Red and Whites opened their 2024-25 Nations League season with consecutive victories over Switzerland and Serbia. Despite the disappointment of losing to Spain, they remain second in Group 4 with six points, one point behind the leaders.

Morten Wieghorst is responsible for caretaking, with Kasper Hjulmand will step down as head coach after the 2024 European Championship as Denmark is eliminated in the round of 16.

The Danes played in Group 1 of League A in the last Nations League, finishing second in their group behind Croatia and picking up twelve points in six games in a strong season.

Denmark are actually unbeaten in their last seven games against Switzerland since October 1984, and they recorded a 2-0 win when the two teams met in the second leg last month.

Switzerland have reported no injury concerns heading into their clash with Serbia and head coach Yakin should resist the temptation to shuffle his team on Tuesday evening.

Breel Embolo has scored 15 goals for his country and is expected to be at the top again while there should be another start for his country Dan Ndoyewho had a sensational European Championship.

Granit Xhaka And Remo Freuler are expected to feature in the middle of the park, while Manchester City's Manuel Akanji will once again have a place in the middle of the defense.

As for Denmark, interim coach Wieghorst will make changes to the team that started against Spain, using Manchester United as a striker Rasmus Hojlund is expected to take the lead on Tuesday evening.

Hojlund is still working on returning to full fitness after missing the start of the season with a muscle problem, but it is likely he will be included in the eleven for this game.
