Preview: Warriors face Rockets in Houston without Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors hit the road today to take on the Houston Rockets deep down in Texas. They have a record of 4-1 and are playing a home team that has won three of their five games. The Rockets boast victories over the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

With Stephen Curry and De'Anthony Melton both out for today's game, there are plenty of opportunities for Dubs guards like Buddy Hield and Brandin Podziemski to get some shots up against a dangerous Rockets team.

The Warriors have put up some good stats through their first five games of the season. Now I know this is where the pessimistic nerd boys are crashing through my wall like the Kool-Aid Man to make sure I know the sample size is too small to draw any real conclusions…but they literally have number 2 in defense NBA right now.

This defense will get a chance to be put to the test tonight as they will have to find a way to keep the Rockets' super scorer, Jalen Green, from elimination. According to our blog friend in Houston, The Dream Shake, Green hints at All-Star:

Averaging 28.8 points per game, shooting 43.2 percent, shooting 41.3 percent from the three-point line, and hitting 58.3, Jalen was by no means a model of efficiency, but for him, those numbers are very encouraging. Especially to put them up in October.

The best thing about Jalen's play so far this season is that he has played well in the moments that really matter. Even in the Rockets losses. He shot 48.1 percent from the field in the fourth quarter and averaged one point per minute played, scoring nine points per game in the final quarter.

If he can keep it up, which is really the question here, then Jalen Green and them will Houston Rockets should thrive in the win-loss category and make a name for himself among potential All-Stars this season.

Oooh really? Let's see if the Dubs can silence some of that All-Star attention tonight.
