Netflix began blocking VPN and proxy providers back in 2015 and increased its efforts in 2021. VPN providers that wanted to maintain geofence-avoiding services for their customers sometimes lease IP addresses, generally associated with private IP addresses. Subnets are connected. This led to Netflix banning larger amounts of IP addresses that were using VPNs as exit proxies.

Amazon's Prime Video, Parmount+ and other services including the BBC have also stepped up their efforts to block anything resembling tunneled traffic. For example, Proton has a guide on “Unblocking Amazon Prime Video with Proton VPN”; Proton also writes on this page that it “does not tolerate the use of our VPN service to circumvent copyright regulations.”

You can search the Internet for freshly updated lists of the best VPNs that can help you bypass the geofiltering blocks of various services. However, the fact that so many VPNs are dated by year or even month gives you an indication of how effective a solution might be.
