Rams McVay expects Noteboom could be back in Week 8, and not a moment too soon

Rams McVay expects Noteboom could be back in Week 8, and not a moment too soon

LA Rams offensive lineman Joe Noteboom may be injury-prone, but there's not necessarily anything he can do about it. Noteboom once hoped to be the replacement at left tackle after Andrew Whitworth retired. But the frequency of injuries is too high and he has not been able to stay consistently fit. But he can block.

Cohesion and consistency are crucial for an NFL offensive line. There is simply no evidence that Noteboom can handle the physical demands of the left offensive tackle position in a 17-game season. But he can fill in for injured teammates. In fact, it is this ability to stick up for Whitworth in 2020 that has seen his reputation skyrocket in 2020.

The LA Rams now need a stabilizing factor on the left side. The team's experiment with Logan Bruss failed miserably. And his replacement, the vacant IOL Justin Dedich, who had a very good performance respectable debutfaces a much bigger task in Week 8. And the problem right now is that the team's offensive line is once again faltering as Bruss isn't exactly on track.

But that won't be the case if Joe Noteboom can be fit and ready to play in Week 8:

The Rams would get a boost if Noteboom was willing to come back. The team can easily use him at any position outside of the central offensive line to replace an injured teammate. Even though the offensive linemen's injuries appear to have subsided for now, the risk remains, especially in a short week of preparation.

So yes, Joe Noteboom's potential return would be perfectly suited to the needs of the current roster composition.

The Rams face a tough battle in Week 8. The Vikings, who lost to the Detroit Lions in Week 7, are looking to get back to winning ways right away, and next up are the LA Rams. Additionally, the Rams have yet to beat a single NFC North team. The team is 0-3, and that is one of the main reasons for their struggles so far.

Will Noteboom fit? I think so. Finally, after the game, the team has 10 days to recover and prepare for the next game. Noteboom, even when broken, has a sort of mini bye to rest up for the next enemy.

As always, thanks for reading.
