What you need to know

  • Razer divides its gaming headsets into three different families, with the Barracuda range designed for listening enjoyment across multiple platforms and media.
  • Today Razer announced an updated version of the entry-level Barracuda X that brings with it a handful of upgrades.
  • First up is the addition of Razer Chroma RGB lighting in each earcup, which is totally expected from Razer at this point.
  • The update takes the new Barracuda

I think I speak for all of us when I say that Razer is expected to add RGB lighting to literally everything, and lately that's increasingly coming to its gaming headsets. Previously limited to the feature-focused Kraken range, Razer has announced a “chroma-fied” version of its cross-platform, multimedia wireless Barracuda X headset, aptly named the Razer Barracuda X Chroma.

The new headset is now available worldwide $129.99 at Razeralthough you'll be charged $30 more over the standard Barracuda X for the included upgrades. I picked up the headset early on (and my full review is coming soon), and my first impression is that this headset feels a bit odd in Razer's current lineup, but still feels like a solid option for those looking for value This is where the aesthetic features such as RGB lighting lie.
