Real Madrid are facing a major backlash over Kylian Mbappé's decision

Kylian Mbappé's first El Clásico with Real Madrid turned into a nightmare as the team suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Saturday night.

It was a tough performance for Mbappé, who made unwanted history. The first half ended without goals, but in the 31st minute he thought he had put Madrid in the lead. Unfortunately for him, the goal was disallowed due to offside following a VAR review.

Things went from bad to worse for the former PSG and Real Madrid star as Barcelona celebrated four goals in the second half. Veteran Robert Lewandowski struck twice in quick succession and scored a goal in the 54th and 56th minutes. Lamine Yamal added another goal in the 77th minute, followed by Raphinha's goal in the 84th minute.

The defeat leaves Real Madrid six points behind Barcelona after 11 games in La Liga, raising questions about the team's direction. Carlo Ancelotti still has a lot to sort out after this disappointing performance and critics are questioning Mbappé's role in the team.

Craig Burley of ESPN FC Didn't hold back and criticized Real Madrid for changing its winning formula to accommodate Mbappé.

Burley said: “When someone is offside so many times and we've been talking about it all game, it ends up being ridiculous.” Ridiculous. To continue to be in offside positions if you have the understanding of the game and the relevant experience. He wasn't the only one, but he was the biggest culprit.

“I think a lot has happened at Real Madrid. When you sign these Galacticos, these big stars, you have to somehow find a way to do it right. But they did it basically Once again he has taken over another side that was fluid and very successful, ripping up that blueprint and moving a lot of people around to try and make it work for Kylian Mbappe.

“And yes, they are only a few points behind, but we have seen all the performances, we have seen the games. So far it's not working.

“They didn’t have any midfield runners trying to break an offside trap and they had a guy trying to break it for 95 minutes and he couldn’t do it.”

It was a challenging start for Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid. If he fails to turn things around soon, he risks being compared to Eden Hazard, whose move from Chelsea to Real Madrid ultimately fell through.
