Reba McEntire wants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Heads up, Kevin Feige: Reba McEntire wants to star in a Marvel movie.

The actress and The voice The host stopped by SiriusXM Hits 1 to chat about her new sitcom Happy's Place and shared her dream role when host Ben Harlum asked her about it.

“I would love to do a Marvel comic,” McEntire said. “I want to be some kind of female Reba McEntire Power Ranger or something in a Marvel movie.” (Power Rangers are owned by Hasbro, of course, but Marvel has published comic book adaptations of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.)

“What would be your superpower?” asked Harlum.

McEntire replied, “My superpower would be being able to talk to animals. Wouldn’t that be fun?”

“That would be good,” Harlum said, adding, “We need to get you into the Marvel Universe.”

McEntire may not be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, but she's expanding the Reba Cinematic Universe with her new NBC sitcom Happy's Place. The series depicts a reunion between McEntire and her ex Reba Co-star Melissa Peterman. McEntire plays Bobbie, a woman who inherits her late father's bar along with a half-sister she never knew she had, while Peterman, who previously starred opposite McEntire in ” RebaShe plays a bartender named Gabby.

Series creator Kevin Abbott, former showrunner and executive producer at Rebarecently revealed that the new sitcom originally came about as a plan Reba Revival. “We were working on a reboot and spent about a year on it,” Abbott told TVLine. “We had it fully worked out. I presented it to all the old cast members, they were all on board. I pitched it to Disney, who owns the rights to it.” Rebaand they were on board.

However, that was around the time of Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, “so there was a lot of uncertainty,” Abbott said, noting that the studio ultimately decided against it. But then McEntire suggested doing a brand new show.

The RCU, like another, only continues to expand Reba See you soon. Steve Howey, who played McEntire's son-in-law Van Montgomery on screen, will appear in an upcoming episode as a character named Danny, a wealthy business owner who Peterman's Gabby meets at a dog park.
