Richland High School was placed on lockdown after a false report

Richland High School in Birdville ISD was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after a 911 call reporting a gun had been found on campus.

North Richland Hills police searched the campus and determined the call was a fake and posed no threat to the campus.

The lockdown was lifted before 2:30 p.m

According to the district, the campus remains on hold until all classrooms are released.

False threats have been reported at several schools across the country in recent weeks.

“Individuals who make threats against others or the school will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with district policy and may also be subject to criminal prosecution. As a reminder, making a threat against a school, whether real or a hoax, is a serious crime,” Birdville ISD said in a statement.

Police say the incident is being fully investigated.
