RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ Progress Report – Introducing Black Ops 6

The most important thing we and you care about is not losing another game to a cheater. A lot was put into it Black Ops 6 to improve security, but here is the goal we are aiming for: We aim to catch and remove cheaters within an hour of their first game.

This metric is called “Time to act“And we will monitor our progress internally and develop technology to reduce this number.

During the Black Ops 6 Beta: Our team has been live testing many of our new technologies to achieve this goal. The first weekend was a stumble. In the past, we have used data from console players to train and test our systems during the first beta weekend. Simply put, while we love our friends gaming on PC, it's nice to have a weekend to stress test systems without the risk of cheaters. Because we had to protect the game without these stress tests, our new technology was so focused on catching cheaters that things got a little heated. When we recognized these errors, we immediately made adjustments to correct our new course Time to act Milestone.

Cheaters were able to complete around 10 multiplayer games in the first weekend before being removed. After optimizing our systems and introducing new detection methods for the second weekend, we've halved that time to five games. With this timing we have reached our time-to-action goal. In fact, 25% of all second weekend bans occurred during the first game a cheater ever played.

But it's not perfect to remove someone after they cheat. That's why we're increasing detection to stop more cheaters before they're loaded into a game. During the beta, we stopped over 12,000 confirmed scam accounts before they ever saw the inside of a game.

Black Ops 6 on Day One will launch with a variety of updated anti-cheat technologies. To name just a few:

  • An updated version of the kernel level driver. Note: All features of the October 25 update protect all titles that use the driver, including Call of Duty®: Warzone™.
  • All damage controls including Damage Shield, Disarm, Splat, Hallucination and others will be live.
  • New behavioral machine learning systems focused on detection speed.
  • New machine learning detection models to analyze gameplay to combat aim bots.
  • Ranked Matches launch upgrades, which include continuous checks to determine whether leaderboard rankings are accurate. Stay tuned for more information on Ranked Play updates in a future blog closer to the mode's release.
  • For Call of Duty: Warzone Specifically, we've introduced new mitigations to disrupt cheaters. Stay tuned for a future report to learn more about these new tricks.

We're always looking for those breadcrumbs to find the bad guys and remove them from the game. This is our commitment to the community.

What lies ahead?
