Road To Highmark: 2024 WPIAL Postseason Soccer begins releasing brackets on Wednesday

The WPIAL Boys and Girls Soccer Championships will be back at Highmark Stadium from October 31st to November 2nd, but we still have a long way to go before then.

First, the WPIAL Boys and Girls Soccer Playoffs will be released on Wednesday (we'll hear either late morning or early afternoon).

Pittsburgh football now I will post the brackets as they become available and receive reactions from various trainers.

We look forward to providing coverage throughout the postseason, which will culminate with our comprehensive coverage of every championship game at Highmark Stadium.

We also plan to bring you more on our YouTube channel and in our latest Kids on the Pitch podcast. Look for lots of conversations and interviews throughout the high school postseason – including reaction to the playoff round, which will be released on Wednesday.

Additionally, the WPIAL recently updated its WPIAL Champions history, with the boys' records now dating back to the 1930s and the girls' records dating back to the 1980s!

What are the remaining key dates for the PIAA/WPIAL season?

WPIAL regular season ends Wednesday, October 16th

WPIAL boys and girls soccer brackets are expected to be announced on Wednesday, October 16th

WPIAL Postseason Tournament

(Subject to change/update)

October 21st, 22nd First round

October 23rd, 24th, 26th quarterfinal round

October 28th, 29th semi-finals

October 31st – November 2nd finals

The first two rounds will host teams from schools with higher seeds unless they do not meet WPIAL facility requirements.

The final will be played at Highmark Stadium.

John Krysinsky has been reporting on football and other sports for various publications and media outlets for many years. He is also the author of “Miracle on the Mon,” a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC that chronicles the club and, in particular, the franchise's early years at Highmark Stadium. John has covered sports for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports and Pittsburgh Sports Report, served as a color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup games in the United States together . Krysinsky also served as head men's soccer coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to their first winning seasons and playoff berths (1996–98); North Catholic Boys Head Coach (2007-2008), Shady Side Academy Boys Associate Head Coach (2009-2014).
