Rodgers' Jets and Bears both suffer heavy losses on Sunday

Most Green Bay Packers fans will consider any Sunday with a Packers win a good Sunday, but Green Bay supporters got more than they could have bargained for in terms of gloating after both the Chicago Bears and New York Jets suffered staggering losses.

The Bears lost an impressive game 18-15 to the Washington Commanders, a game that will remain in infamy for Chicago fans for a long time. The Bears appeared to have won the game after scoring a go-ahead touchdown with 27 seconds left when Roschon Johnson capped a 10-play drive with a short touchdown run. After Caleb Williams found Cole Kmet for a two-point conversion, the Bears appeared to have a 15-12 win in sight.

But as most people know by now, it just didn't end that way.

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, who had already completed passes for 11 yards and 13 yards in the rapid-fire drive, uncorked a 52-yard Hail Mary as time expired that bounced from a scrum of players at the goal line into the waiting arms of rebounded receiver Noah Brown for the score.

The game was given another touch of weirdness when video from a fan in the end zone showed Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson apparently berating fans near the end zone even after the game had started. Stevenson realized what was happening, ran up to make a play… and then became the player who passed the ball directly to Brown.

Stevenson then apologized on social media.

The Bears fell to 4-3 and are out of the playoffs. As it stands, the Commanders would be the No. 2 seed as the top team in the NFC East, while the Packers would be in fifth place as the top wild-card team — still half a game behind the Lions for first place in the NFC North.

The Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals occupy weak spots as division winners, while the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles enter the wild card battle. Green Bay has lost to both teams this season, but both are half a game behind the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers, Jets suffer tough loss to New England

The New York Jets suffered a narrow 25-22 loss to New England, a team considered one of the worst in the NFL and considered historic.

The Patriots, who lost rookie quarterback Drake Maye in the second quarter and turned to Jacoby Brissett for most of the game, had just 247 yards. The Patriots are the first team since 2012 to win without a takeaway or 250 yards.

Even this game requires a caveat because the last team to win under these circumstances? According to Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini, Week 3 is Seattle vs. Green Bay, a 14-12 score forever immortalized as a “Fail Mary” game. Teams are 220-0 since that game when they don't turn the ball over and hold an opponent to less than 250 yards of offense.

It is the first time in NFL history that a team scored 20 points, didn't concede a turnover and allowed the opponent less than 250 yards of offense and still lost.

The Jets and Patriots emerged from the game with 2-6 records. Rodgers finished the game 17 of 27 for 233 yards and two touchdowns, but Rhamondre Stevenson scored with 22 seconds left to give the Patriots the winning points.

The Jets previously beat New England 24-3 this season but have now lost five straight games, including the last two, since former Packers receiver Davante Adams reunited with Rodgers in New York. The Patriots celebrated a surprising 16-10 win over Cincinnati to open the season, but had lost six games in a row since then.
