Rohit Bal, the popular Gudda of the Indian fashion scene, dies at the age of 63 | Fashion trends

Rohit Bal, a renowned Indian fashion designer, has passed away. He was known for his gender-inclusive designs and traditional-modern fusion.

The Fashion Design Council confirmed the news. “We mourn the loss of legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Bal is known for its unique blend of traditional patterns and modern sensibilities. His work redefined Indian fashion and inspired generations. His legacy of artistry, innovation and forward-thinking will live on in the world of fashion. Rest in peace GUDDA. You are a legend,” FDC wrote in an IG post.

Rohit's health problems last year

Just two weeks ago, Rohit presented his latest collection at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. Last December, Bal was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Gurugram due to heart problems.

About Rohit Bal

Bal is known for his designs that appeal to all genders. He started his career in fashion design in 1986 when he and his brother Orchid Oversea Pvt. founded. Ltd. In 1990 he made his debut as an independent collection.

Bal was born on May 8, 1961 in Srinagar to a Kashmiri Pandit family.

The largest handloom textile factory in Panchkula, Khadi Gram Udyog, chose Bal as its cooperation partner. He opened a flagship store in Delhi and stores in Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Chennai.

Bal also had a successful career as a jewelry designer.

He is known for his work with materials such as velvet and brocade and his intricate designs are influenced by the opulence and majesty of India.

Bal graduated from St. Stephens College, Delhi with a bachelor's degree in history.

He completed a fashion course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi.
