Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) criticized the media for their “concerted efforts” to “breathlessly distort and lie” about former President Trump.

Rubio was appearing on CBS' “Face the Nation” Sunday morning when he was asked by host Margaret Brennan about Trump's recent comments about former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) that drew criticism.

During a fireside chat with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson in Arizona on Thursday, Trump criticized Cheney, who has become an outspoken Trump critic, describing her as having guns “pointed at her face.”

Rubio and Brennan argued about the issue on the show Sunday, and he said they only played a “snippet of the sound bite” because it showed Trump saying he would give Cheney a gun, too.

“The point he made is not a new point. That's a point that people of both parties have been making for decades, which is: They're all pro-war, and it's easy to be pro-war when you're in a fancy building and safe and sound in Washington, DC Let’s see how pro-war you are when you yourself are deployed in combat,” Rubio argued, as highlighted by Mediaite.

The Florida senator continued, arguing that Trump was using language not typically heard from politicians.

“But I think it's really not just unfair, it's outrageous to see it reported as it was, along with other things that are out there,” Rubio said.

“I have never seen such a concerted action and I have always believed that there is bias because no one is unbiased, but I have never seen such a concerted action like what I have seen, especially in the last two Weeks “There is a lot of media in this country that in some cases breathlessly twists and lies about what is being said,” he continued.
