Saturday Night Live's Bowen Yang and Chappell Roan hold hands after the controversial Moo Deng sketch

At the end, Bowen Yang and Chappell Roan held hands Saturday Night Livejust weeks after the comedian was criticized by her fans for apparently mocking her while dressed as pygmy hippopotamus Moo Deng.

hours before SNL When the Season 50 premiere aired on Saturday, September 28, Roan canceled two scheduled appearances at the All Things Go Festival, telling her fans, “Things have gotten really overwhelming.”

In the show, Yang Roan's comments about fame and her desire for boundaries comedically merged with the hippopotamus that lives at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand and went viral on social media.

Disguised as Moo Deng but pointing out Roan's comments, Yang continued SNL's Weekend Update segment: “I've been traveling non-stop for the last 10 weeks. Walking around, eating salad, trying to bite the water out of a hose, and the reaction was overwhelming.”

Referencing a statement Roan shared on social media, he added: “As a reminder, women don't owe you anything. “If I'm in my pen, tripping over things, or biting my coach in the knee, I'm with of work. This is the project. Don’t call my name or expect a photo just because I’m your parasocial best friend or because you appreciate my talent.”

Yang received backlash on social media for the skit, claiming it was mocking Roan, but the comedian rejected that idea. On Instagram Stories, Yang wrote: “Oh my goodness, 'taunts'? If my personal stance and the piece regarding support (Roan) aren't entirely clear, then that's because it is.

“Everything she's ever asked for has been reasonable and even then we can tie it into another story about boundaries or whatever.”

Roan was the musical guest on last night's episode of SNL (November 2), and although she didn't take part in any skits with Yang, the fact that they prominently held hands during the final farewell seemed to be a clear sign that there's no bad blood between the two.

Elsewhere in the episode, Kamala Harris poked fun at Donald Trump's garbage truck issues as she made a surprise appearance during the cold open.

The vice president, who was played by Maya Rudolph on the comedy show's 50th season, flew to New York City on Saturday evening after a campaign event in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Harris made the unscheduled stop en route to Detroit, Michigan, as Air Force Two landed at LaGuardia Airport in Queens. It was the last episode of the show before Election Day on Tuesday.

She appeared in the show's cold opening alongside Rudolph's version of her, when the actress looked into a mirror and said she wished she could “talk to someone who was in my shoes.”

The camera then panned to the reflection in the mirror where the beaming Vice President sat and received loud cheers from the studio audience.
