'Scandal' Cast Reunites to Aid in Hurricane Helene Relief (Exclusive)

Bellamy Young brings her former one with her scandal Co-stars back together for a good cause!

Young, a native of Asheville, North Carolina, has called on her former castmates to come together for a live gathering on Sunday, November 17, to raise funds for United Way of North Carolina to help the western part of the state the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

The actress, who played First Lady and later Commander-in-Chief Mellie Grant, will perform a virtual table read of a fan-favorite episode alongside Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope), Tony Goldwyn (Fitzgerald Grant) and Guillermo Diaz (Huck), Scott Foley (Jake Ballard), Katie Lowes (Quinn Perkins) and Joshua Malina (David Rosen), Joe Morton (Rowan/Eli Pope), George Newbern (Charlie), Jeff Perry (Cyrus Beene), Cornelius Smith, Jr. (Marcus Walker) and Darby Stanchfield (Abby Whelan).

Shonda Rhimes, creator of the ABC political thriller, will also be in attendance and will open the reading with her producing partner Betsy Beers, who will be the narrator.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that fans of the popular series, which ran for seven seasons from 2012 to 2018, can register at Prizeo.com to read the script alongside the cast as a real character – and no acting experience is required!

The cast excitedly shares this announcement, meeting via Zoom to discuss their reunion plans in PEOPLE's exclusive teaser video above.

The clip begins with Young and Goldwyn talking about how nice it is to see each other again and reminiscing about their days scandal.

“I really missed your face, I miss every face. It's been so long since we've had the whole Scandal family together,” Young says. “Remember how much we used to look forward to table lessons? Next, we found out everything Shonda and the writers had in store for us. It was so crazy!”

Goldwyn agrees, telling his former co-star, “That was the best! Maybe we can meet for an online reading and do it for a good cause?”

Then Lowes and Foley appear on screen as she agrees that the idea “sounds great” and he asks, “What episode should we do?”

Díaz also joins the Zoom call and teases Young that they shouldn't be surprised they're there, as Lowes jokes, “We've got our eye on you!”

Foley then teases that “some special guest stars” will be in attendance and encourages fans to join them in the table read before the cast ends the call.

The cast has reunited in recent years, including in 2020 and 2021, when they reunited to raise funds for artists affected by COVID-19, and in 2023, when part of the cast came together to to support the SAG-AFTRA strike.

“Like so many of us, I watched in horror at the devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina and my beautiful hometown of Asheville,” Young said of their upcoming reunion in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“I am so grateful that all of my scandal The family has agreed to be part of this very special event. I hope with all my heart that we can make a difference for WNC on the road to recovery. And we hope that our gladiators will turn out in large numbers to help us achieve this,” she continued in her statement.

In addition to North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee were also affected by Hurricane Helene, with the death toll exceeding 200.
