Seahawks LB Jerome Baker (hamstring injury) among the MNF inactives

DETROIT – The Seattle Seahawks will be without another key defenseman on Monday night against the Detroit Lions after keeping center back Jerome Baker out of action.

Seattle had already ruled out defensive end Leonard Williams, defensive tackle Byron Murphy and outside linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Boye Mafe. Without Baker, they will be without five of their best front-seven defenders as they face their toughest opponent yet.

Baker was questionable with a hamstring injury that also kept him out of the Seahawks' Week 3 win over the Miami Dolphins. In his absence, they are expected to use both rookie Tyrice Knight and Drake Thomas as weak spots, as they did last week.

“Four players are down, four more will be moving up,” coach Mike Macdonald said Friday. “I’m looking forward to seeing these guys play. When you talk about having depth on your football team, you want to feel like, 'Okay, I can't wait to see who gets this opportunity now.' So that's our opinion. The boys will have more opportunities than usual and we look forward to seeing what they do.”

The Seahawks (3-0) signed veteran outside linebacker Tyus Bowser and nose tackle Quinton Bohanna from their practice squad to add depth against Detroit.

Seattle's other inactive players are two offensive rookies: tackle Michael Jerrell and guard Sataoa Laumea.

According to ESPN Research, a win in Seattle would make Macdonald the 11th rookie head coach since 1970 to go 4-0.
