Selena Gomez's Emilia Pérez performance of “Mi Camino.”

In Jacques Audiardis a highly unconventional musical Emilia Perez – which debuts in select US and Canadian theaters today and debuts on Netflix in the US, Canada and UK on November 13th – Selena Gomez describes her career as the wife of a Mexican cartel boss. In fact, she and her leading actresses were jointly awarded the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

The role requires Gomez to do many things she hasn't done before, including acting in Spanish. But it also gives her the opportunity to do something she wants has has been done for years, and done by just about everyone in the world: sing.

The Hollywood Reporter is pleased to exclusively premiere a clip of the scene featuring Gomez and her co-star Edgar Ramirez Perform “Mi Camino,” a song written by the French songwriting and composing team Clement Ducol And Camillewho are behind the entire soundtrack and score of the film.

“Mi Camino,” Spanish for “My Way,” was described by the songwriters as an “anthem” for Gomez's character Jessi as she learns to accept and love herself for who she is. They compared it to a hit from the 1980s but with a modern twist.

Another song had previously been written for the character of Jessi, but when Gomez was cast, Audiard asked the songwriters to tailor something specifically for her. They watched the 2022 documentary Selena Gomez: My mind and meand came back with “Mi Camino”.

For their work Emilia Perez Clément Ducol and Camille have already received the Cannes Soundtrack Award, the Toronto International Film Festival's Artistan Tribute and the Middleburg Film Festival's Special Achievement in the Music to Film Award.
