Senate candidates Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey are making one final appeal to Central Valley voters before the election

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — U.S. Senate candidate Adam Schiff was at a Dia De Los Muertos event in Madera on Saturday morning.

He was there to support the cultural holiday and used the opportunity to reach out to voters in the Central Valley.

“I look forward to working out things to lower the cost of living, especially in California we need to lower the cost of housing,” Schiff said.

Current polls show Schiff with a double-digit lead over Republican candidate Steve Garvey.

Action News reached Garvey via Zoom from his office Saturday afternoon.

The former baseball player says he is confident he will secure the Senate seat on Tuesday.

“They want new leadership, they don't want career politicians anymore, they want someone like me who is willing to get up every day and fight for them and fight for the cost of living and the quality of life,” Garvey said.

Both candidates want Central Valley voters to know how important they are to their campaigns. And how they want to protect Central California's rich agricultural industry.

“This is probably the largest agricultural area in the world. Generations of families have dedicated their lives to providing food and influencing the economy,” Garvey said.

“This is a really important part of our state, this is a breadbasket of the state, the country, the world. I’m extremely proud of the agricultural industry, I want to keep it strong,” said Schiff.
