Severe storm damage reported in the Oklahoma City metro

Severe storms moved across central Oklahoma late Saturday and Sunday morning, causing varying degrees of damage in parts of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 35 were closed at Northeast 50th Street in Oklahoma City due to flooding. Motorists in the area should seek an alternative route.

At least one home was damaged by a tornado southwest of Tinker Airforce Base.

Damage was reported at Southeast 81st and Sooner Road. Damaged or destroyed homes were also reported west of this area at Southeast 89th Street and South Bryant Avenue.

Oklahoma City police said several buildings were damaged along Sooner Road south of Interstate 240. Sooner Road in the area was closed.

There are also reports of damage from Valley Brook, southeast of the Oklahoma City metro. Authorities are responding to reports of residents trapped in their vehicles.

Damage was reported in the Horshoe Lake area near Luther and in Blanchard, but the exact location is not yet known.

News 9 viewers in the eastern part of the metro reported damage in Harrah near Southeast 219th Street and Triple X Road and in Choctaw near Peeble Road and East Reno Avenue.
