SNL Recap: Ariana Grande and Bowen Yang Sing “Wicked,” “Fight,” and “Kiss.”

Evil Co-stars Ariana Grande And Bowen Yang In the Saturday, October 12 episode, best friends proved that best friends do better Saturday Night Live.

Grande, 31, returned to host Saturday's episode – her second time hosting the variety show since 2016 – in which she proved her enduring bond with Yang, 33. (Grande and Yang, of course, met while filming the upcoming movie musical Evil, with Galinda/Glinda or Pfannee, a fellow student at Shiz University.)

To kick off her monologue, Grande sang a meta tune about her intention not to turn the episode into a musical. (The pop star ended up singing several times SNLincluding a parody cover by Sabrina Carpenteris the viral hit “Espresso”.)

“And I won’t talk about it Evil / 'cause tonight I don't take a-” Grande sang before noticing Yang in the corner of the stage wearing a replica of her pink dress Evil ball gown; Tiara, wand and all. “Bowen?” Didn't anyone tell you that? We cut that Evil sketch.”

Yang seemed joking, as if he knew nothing about the script changes.

“Oh, um, that's fine, I didn't want to do it anyway,” he joked.

Grande revealed that this was “great” because his wand was actually a hidden “bottle.”

“So if you can keep the piano away from me 'cause that's the last thing I'll do,” she continued singing. “Is modulating the button!”

Grande and Yang then reunited in more skits, including one about a family game night. Grande and actors Andrew Dismukes played the parents of Michael Longfellowwho brought his new friend (Yang) home for the first time. While playing a “competitive” game of charades, Grande and Yang ended up getting into an argument.

“Haha, in your face, Diane,” Yang joked to Grande, who replied that the dig was “not necessary.”

“Do you have a little dick or something?” she replied. “You have to compensate something, you poor sick loser?”

The animosity between the two continued to escalate as they exchanged verbal remarks – and then some.

“I don't have a problem. I have love and a family. “What do you have?” said Grande. “A toad show?”

However, Yang's character tired of dissidents about his size and stature.

“How about I beat your ass right here, right now?” he joked, before Longfellow asked what was wrong. “How does it look? I’m about to fight your mother.”

Grande, meanwhile, pointed out that the “rules of the road” must be followed when fighting in “this house” as she hit Yang over the head with a wine bottle.

In retaliation, Yang pretended to throw and shake Grande (actually a life-sized doll while the actress hid behind a couch) over his shoulders and shouted, “This is what she deserves.”

He eventually apologized for going “a little overboard,” and Grande clapped.
