Vice President Kamala Harris wasn't the only politician to make a surprise appearance on “SNL” this weekend.

Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Virginia, also appeared on the NBC show during a skit that poked fun at the idea that everyone has forgotten him since he was Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2016.

In the skit, host John Mulaney played a contestant on a game show in which players are asked to say the name of a real person. Mulaney's character is portrayed as someone who closely follows politics and emphasizes the importance of the 2024 election, and he easily recognizes Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Special Counsel Jack Smith.

But when Kaine himself enters the set, Mulaney's character can't name him.

“I was Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate,” Kaine emphasizes. “At the time, you said it was the most important election in American history and that democracy was at stake. It hasn't been eight years yet. What’s my name?”

When Mulaney still doesn't say anything, Kaine tells him, “You voted to put me a heartbeat away from the Oval Office, in an election more recent than the release of 'Zootopia'!”

But the game show host doesn't do much better, giving Mulaney three options for Kaine's name, all of which are incorrect, and then falsely announcing that he is Tim Scott. Later, Kaine comes out again and Mulaney's character still can't identify him, even though he was just told his name. “I just told you 90 seconds ago!” Kaine says.

Mulaney's character is then unable to name the victims of police violence he reminded his followers of in 2020, and despite declaring that the country will turn into “The Handmaid's Tale” when former President Donald Trump is chosen, he is not aware of the book. The author Margaret Atwood was standing next to him the whole time.

The Kaine sketch appeared in the same episode, which began with a surprise cameo from Harris, who appeared alongside Maya Rudolph's caricature of her to give herself advice.

Pete Davidson brings back 'SNL' and shows off his new look after tattoo removal

In another cameo from Saturday's episode, former “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson returned to the show as part of Mulaney's ongoing series of musical sketches.

This film is set in a Duane Reade in New York's Port Authority Bus Terminal, with Mulaney as a cashier who can't believe that a customer, played by Davidson, decides to order milk. This sparks a series of musical parodies, with Andy Samberg even performing a “Hamilton” parody when the bear Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is abandoned in Central Park.

Davidson was a cast member on “SNL” from 2014 to 2022. The comedian also showed off the results of his tattoo removal during his performance on Saturday. He previously had tattoos on both arms, but during the segment his arms were almost devoid of ink.

John Mulaney jokes about caring for his newborn baby in the opening monologue of “SNL.”

In his opening monologue, Mulaney talked about his newborn baby after welcoming his second child with wife Olivia Munn in September.

“We have a 5-week-old daughter and I have a 2-year-old son. My wife takes care of the 5 week old and I go out with the 2 year old and that's not fair,” the comedian joked. “This is not an even distribution of work at all. Saying you have a 5-week-old child and I'll take a 2-year-old child is like saying, 'I'm going to transport this convict across state lines, you're holding one.' Potato.'”

Mulaney also joked that his “whole life is looking down now” because he constantly looks down on his children and on Munn, who he joked is “four feet tall,” and on Munn's mother, who he declared to be “two feet tall.”

Chappell Roan Debuts New Country Song on 'SNL'

Chappell Roan was this week's musical guest and she first impressed with a performance of “Pink Pony Club” from her 2023 album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”

Roan then debuted a brand new country song, “The Giver.” “All the country boys say you know how to treat a woman right, but only a woman knows how to treat a woman right,” Roan said during the performance.

The “Hot to Go” singer, who has experienced a surge in popularity this year, recently announced a new project, writing on Instagram that her 2023 album is “kind of crazy in my opinion, but it's time for a hot one.” to welcome new bombshell to the villa.”

This was the final episode of “SNL” to air before the 2024 presidential election. The show will return on November 9th with host Bill Burr and musical guest Mk.gee.
