'SNL' Weekend Update Makes Fun of Donald Trump's Garbage Truck Appearance

Saturday Night Live (SNL) took aim at Donald Trump in its Weekend Update and made fun of his appearance as a garbage truck.

Trash has become a major issue in the election, and both campaigns are suffering the consequences of people associated with them comparing others to trash.

SNL Hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che took aim at Trump capitalizing on the backlash. President Joe Biden, and by extension Kamala Harris' campaign, faces the challenge of Trump holding a press conference from a garbage truck at a Wisconsin airport last Wednesday.

Jost first showed a photo of Trump in a bright orange high-visibility vest that he wore during the stunt, saying, “Here is former President Donald Trump after being rescued in a lifeboat after 30 days.”

He then laughingly told the audience how he gave a “press conference from inside a garbage truck with his name on it.”

“And my favorite part,” Jost continued, “was when he tried to open the door of the truck and missed.”

The broadcast then played a clip of Trump appearing to struggle twice to grab the truck door handle.

“He looks as drunk as I do on Tuesday night (November 5th),” Jost joked.

This comes after Biden reportedly called Trump supporters “trash” last Tuesday in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” at the Republican rally at Madison Square Garden last Sunday.

Donald Trump Jr. set the Halloween dress code for MAGA supporters with a trashy trash bag look that gained widespread traction online.

While both his father and Kamala Harris debated who branded who “trash” after the Republican rally at Madison Square Garden, Trump Jr. posted a family photo of him in a black trash bag with clear plastic bottles, plastic bags and a crumpled brown paper tube , which was attached to his body with duct tape. The look was further complemented by a red cap from Make America Great Again.

He wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Happy Halloween. Embrace their hate and own it. Then VOTE! !!!”

White House spokesman Andrew Bates said Newsweek that Biden was referring to the “hateful rhetoric at the Madison Square Garden rally” and not Trump supporters. Meanwhile, the former president has denied knowing Hinchcliffe, and Trump senior adviser Danielle Alvarez has said so Newsweek that the “joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”

SNL He went on to recount how, hours after Trump's garbage truck stunt, he said at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, that he would “protect women whether the women like it or not.”

“For example, he will force anyone who poses a danger to women to wear an orange vest,” Jost joked while again showing the photo of Trump in a high-visibility vest.

Che then mocked Trump as they played a clip of him seemingly jokingly imitating oral sex on a microphone he was having trouble with at a rally Friday in Milwaukee.

As Jost put it, Trump “seemed like he was going to do something very specific with (the microphone)” before asking the audience to “see if (they) can guess it.”

After several more swipes at Trump, Jost briefly took aim at Democrats, showing a fake photo of Biden bound and gagged in the White House – supposedly while Harris was making closing arguments for her campaign.

He also brought up last week's photo of Biden biting a baby dressed as a chicken at the White House on Halloween.

Newsweek emailed Trump's team for comment outside of normal working hours.

Harris also made a surprise appearance in this weekend's episode SNLalongside actress Maya Rudolph, who has played the vice president in the series since 2019.

The scene included a mirror sequence in which Rudolph and Harris engaged in the vice president's signature wordplay and incorporated variations of her name, including “Dramala” and “Palmala.”
