Snow is accumulating across Colorado, impacting Denver's morning commute

Snow will continue to fall in Colorado and parts of Denver Sunday night and into the early hours of Monday.

Overnight Sunday, rain will transition to snow to a depth of about 5,000 feet. Heavy traffic is expected on I-70 and the Palmer Divide through at least 11 a.m. Monday. Between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. snow will stop across the Denver metropolitan area and will persist over the Palmer Divide until 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Temperatures will fall below freezing tonight so any rainy/wet roads will be slick and possibly icy before sunrise.

A general T-2″ is expected along and east of I-25 (to 5,000 feet) with 1-3″ to the west. 2 to 5 inches is expected across the Palmer Divide. Generally 3 to 8 inches over the foothills and 5 to 15 inches over the Front Range Mountains.

There will also be wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour during the morning commute. So dress warmly and prepare for reduced visibility in areas where snow accumulates.
