Sofia Jamora begged Jaxson Hayes to stop touching her: “How the fuck do I look like a punching bag?”

Footage leaked by TMZ shows Los Angeles Lakers big man Jaxson Hayes berating and laying hands on his former girlfriend Sofia Jamora before his arrest in July 2021 as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The altercation was allegedly sparked after Jamora accused Hayes' dogs of injuring her smaller dog. In the footage, Hayes can be seen pulling her from one room to another as she tells him to stop. Moments later, loud crashes and bangs are heard as Jamora begs Hayes to stop and leave.

In the footage, Hayes and Jamora walk outside shortly after 2 a.m., with the latter threatening to call the police before saying the following.

“I won’t let you beat me anymore,” Jamora is heard saying. “What the hell do I look like, like a punching bag?”

Hayes then pushes Jamora as he walks back into the house and spits near her. Jamora repeats that he has to go.

Photos taken after the incident show that Jamora appeared to have suffered bruises on her arms and legs.

As previously reported, police eventually arrived at the apartment and arrested and tasered Hayes. Before his arrest, Hayes allegedly pushed an officer. An officer is said to have been injured.

At one point, Hayes said he couldn't breathe, which led to excessive force being used by Los Angeles police.

Hayes was sentenced to three years' probation, domestic violence classes and 450 hours of community service after saying he did not resist arrest and false imprisonment. At one point he was facing twelve charges.

The 24-year-old is in his sixth season in the NBA and spent the first four seasons of his career playing for the Pelicans. With New Orleans, he established himself as a solid backup star.

He is currently in his second season playing for the Lakers. He has appeared in each of Los Angeles' six games so far in the 2024-25 regular season and is averaging 5.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.

Hayes was not punished by the NBA following the incident in question, but the leaked footage clearly paints a very disturbing picture. Jamora has an ongoing case against Hayes.
