Sources – Utah QB Cam Rising's playing time decision against Arizona

Utah quarterback Cam Rising, who has been plagued by injuries the past two years, is expected to make another game-time decision Saturday night against Arizona, sources told ESPN.

Rising has missed No. 10 Utah's last two games after suffering a throwing hand injury Sept. 7 against Baylor. He missed all of last season after tearing his ACL in the Rose Bowl following the 2022 season.

Rising's status will undergo the same evaluation process with Utah's staff as it did prior to last week's Oklahoma State game. He will throw the ball before the game and his ability to add spin and speed to the ball will determine whether he will play, according to sources.

Since Rising has had difficulty recovering and getting back on the field, one factor that could influence the decision could be the chance of getting him back to full health in two weeks. Utah has a bye before playing at Arizona State on October 11th.

Rising practiced this week but remained limited as staff tried to rest his finger.

Freshman Isaac Wilson has started the last two weeks, leading the Utes to wins over Utah State in Logan and against the Cowboys in Stillwater.

Wilson has both shown moments of promise and punctuated moments that illuminated his youth. He threw for 207 yards on 17 of 29 passes against Oklahoma State. He also threw two interceptions. He threw for three touchdowns and 239 yards against Utah State.
