Houston, TX – Flash flooding is expected across southeast Texas on Monday after severe thunderstorms flooded the area overnight. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for low-lying and urban areas vulnerable to sudden water surges.

Between 2 and 4 inches of rain fell in several counties overnight, straining waterways and increasing the risk of flooding. Radar images suggest flash flooding could affect local roads, streams and neighborhoods. According to weather authorities, areas with poor drainage, including underpasses and rural streams, face increased threat.

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads as sudden floods of water can cause vehicles to become trapped. Rescue crews are ready to respond to potential rescuers as water levels continue to rise. Residents in vulnerable areas should be prepared for possible evacuations if the rain continues.

Authorities advise caution in the evening hours, when darkness can obscure dangers. The risk of flash flooding may ease by mid-morning as rain eases. However, forecasts suggest that isolated storms will occur throughout the week.
