Steeler Cam Heyward was the highest-rated DT in the NFL for four weeks

Steeler Cam Heyward was the highest-rated DT in the NFL for four weeks

During the offseason, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward told everyone he was healthy and ready for a big bounce-back season. Did we believe him? Well, sort of, but at 35 there were some concerns, and after an injury-riddled season you had to wonder a little if he still had it.

Four games into the season, Heyward answers the question. According to Pro Football Focus, Heyward is the highest-rated interior defender in the entire NFL. Yes. Better than Dexter Lawrence and Chris Jones (who were #2 and #3).

Heyward had a sack in each of the last two games, giving him two this season. This matches his 2023 season total. The impact Heyward has on defense doesn't always show up in the box score. This is a case where the PFF grades can really illustrate the sheer impact he has on one of the NFL's best defenses.
