Tennessee football loses Douglas Utu, who decommits to Oregon

Four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu transferred from Tennessee football to Oregon, he announced Thursday.

Utu, the No. 2 interior guard in the 2025 class, committed to the Vols on June 24. It was a significant recruiting victory for Tennessee, which must rebuild its offensive line after the 2024 season. Utu is a 6-foot-4, 317-pounder and four-star prospect from Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas.

“I am pleased to announce my commitment to the University of Oregon to further my academic and athletic careers,” Utu wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates and most of all to the man above for supporting me on this journey. Go Ducks!”

Utu committed to Tennessee after his official visit in June, rooting for the Vols over Oregon, Alabama, Michigan, Washington and most of the top football programs in the country. He is ranked No. 69 overall in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Utu was one of Tennessee's top-rated commits in its 2025 class. He stood out alongside five-star offensive tackle David Sanders, who is the second-best overall player in his class. Sanders committed in August and attended Tennessee's game against NC State.
