Tennessee Titans “working through things” with S Jamal Adams

Tennessee Titans “working through things” with S Jamal Adams

On Saturday, the Tennessee Titans quietly placed defensive lineman Jamal Adams on the substitute/non-football injury list. This was an odd move as Adams had already been ruled out for the Week 6 game due to a hip injury.

On Wednesday, head coach Brian Callahan briefly addressed the media and mentioned that the team was “working through” some things with Adams.

“We are working on some things that are ongoing,” Callahan said when asked about the situation. “I’ll leave that alone for now.”

That's a vague answer that points to something deeper. Since no details were revealed during his media appearance, this could indicate frustrations on both sides that led to this point.

Because Adams is on the reserve/non-football injury list, Adams will be out for at least four weeks. But it also adds to the uncertainty that comes with the situation.

Adams, a former first-round pick of the Jets, signed a one-year deal with the Titans in July and struggled early with a hip injury. After missing the start of the season due to injury, he failed to establish a regular rotation with Quandre Diggs and Amani Hooker.

In the three games he was available, he logged just 20 snaps on defense and made very little impact on the field. He's a far cry from the All-Pro player who was traded from the Jets to the Seattle Seahawks.

With the Titans struggling at 1-4, this is a distraction the team doesn't need as it tries to jump-start its season. Especially as they turn their attention to their Week 7 game with the Buffalo Bills.
