Senator Marsha Blackburn easily won a second term in the U.S. Senate.

Blackburn faced Democratic opponent Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville.

She took the open seat in 2018 and assumed a higher role in her political chapter in Congress. She previously served as the House Representative for Congressional District 7.

Since her time in the U.S. Senate, two bills she sponsored have been signed into law.

Their biggest bill was the REPORT Act, which changed the federal framework for reporting crimes related to online child sexual exploitation. Their other bill was to rename a courthouse in Jackson, Tennessee, in honor of James D. Todd.

Even though Johnson lost the congressional seat, she will remain in the Tennessee General Assembly. She ran unopposed for the House floor vote in her House District 90.

Johnson thrust herself into the spotlight of Tennessee politics with her role in the Tennessee Three, a House moment in 2023, where she and two other Democrats stood in the chambers in protest after the Covenant School shooting.

Her two Democratic colleagues were threatened with expulsion, while members narrowly voted to stay. Rep. Justin Jones, D-Nashville, and Rep. Justin Pearson, D-Memphis, were later re-elected to the Tennessee General Assembly.

Rep. Andy Ogles defeated Democratic candidate and political newcomer Maryam Abolfazli to win a second term in Congress.

District 5 includes portions of Davidson, Williamson and Maury counties. During his time in Congress, he did not support any original legislation that became law. Of the 77 pieces he wrote, only four were considered by the committee.

Ogles was also the subject of a months-long investigation by NewsChannel 5 investigated The focus was on his campaign and personal financial disclosures. He claimed to have personally borrowed $320,000 for his 2022 campaign during his first campaign for the 5th District congressional seat. Ogles' personal financial disclosures did not reflect the ability to lend such a large amount to his campaign.

Last May, Ogles altered his campaign finance reports and admitted that he had loaned the campaign only $20,000. He ultimately changed his personal financial information in September.

The Cookeville Republican represents as far east as Piney Grove and as far west as Nashville. He has been in office since 2019. He defeated Democrat Lore Bergman, who identified as a political organization, advocate and activist.

Since his term in office, he has introduced 23 original bills and two of them have made it to committee.

In a questionnaire to NewsChannel 5 before the election, Rose said his top three concerns heading into another term were securing the southern border, the economy and preserving Tennessee's values.

Representative Mark Green is also returning to Washington, DC.

In February, Green announced he was retiring from politics. Then he thought again. He beat well-known former Nashville mayor Megan Barry. She was the city's first female mayor.

Green began his career in 2012 as an elected official in the Tennessee Legislature. He served in the State Senate, representing Clarksville and Montgomery County. He was elected to Congress in 2018 when the seat became vacant. He now serves as the representative for District 7. It has been redesigned to include several counties, including Davidson.

Since entering Congress in 2018, Green has individually sponsored 96 pieces of legislation. One of those efforts became law last year. Green's bill would allow schools to use federal money to purchase materials that could be considered weapons for educational instruction or enrichment, such as hunting, shooting sports, archery or culinary arts.

The Ashland City Republican quickly found himself in the national spotlight in 2023 as he vied for the post of House speaker. He lost the offer.

He was there again in 2017 after comments surfaced during his nomination for Secretary of the Army under President Donald Trump. He withdrew after facing intense criticism for his comments about gays and lesbians, Muslims and other groups.

Green is a West Point graduate and former Army flight surgeon.

She carries on her husband's legacy to raise money for Alzheimer's research

I am so inspired by Sheila Gann's love for her husband and her resilience. Anyone who has lost a loved one to Alzheimer's knows how cruel the disease is – not only for the patient, but also for those who love and care for them. Mike and Sheila clearly had a remarkable love story, and she now honors it in the most beautiful way. Thank you to Forrest Sanders for sharing his story.
