Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn hits the game-winning field goal from 59 yards to beat Bills

The Houston Texans are 4-1 this season thanks to Ka'imi Fairbairn hitting a game-winning 59-yard field goal as the clock read zero at home against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The 23-20 loss puts Buffalo at 3-2 on the year.

It seemed like Houston was in complete control of this game, but that changed when Josh Allen finally got something going on offense in the second half.

While Allen didn't have a good game overall through the air (9 of 30, 131 yards, one touchdown), he orchestrated a touchdown drive early in the second half, finding Dalton Kincaid for 26 yards to set up a James Cook touchdown to score the score 20-10.

Then, after the defense forced a three-pointer, Allen found freshman Keon Coleman flying down the left sideline and keeping his feet in the game for a 49-yard score.

At that point, it was a three-point game with CJ Stroud and the Texans' offense faltering despite a hot first quarter.

Stroud made it 14-3 thanks to Nico Collins' incredible speed that took him past Buffalo's secondary, and the second-year quarterback threw a dime to him for a 67-yard touchdown. And he previously saw Cam Akers complete a 15-yard run for the first touchdown on the game's first drive of the game.

Although Allen didn't reach the end zone for the remainder of the game, he gave the Texans a chance at the end of the game as Buffalo never moved from its own 3-yard line. Robert Woods gave the Texans better field position with a punt with 16 seconds left after a 13-yard run to Buffalo's 46 yards.

Dare Ogunbowale picked up five more yards and set up Fairbairn's 59-yard kick that capped the hard-fought victory.

While Stroud was without Collins for most of this game due to a hamstring injury, he still threw for 331 yards on 28 of 38 through the air, with one touchdown and one interception.

And it was Stefon Diggs, the ex-Bills star who many said was on his “revenge game” this week, leading Houston with 82 yards on six catches.

For the Bills, where Allen was stopped in the passing game, Cook provided solid rushing with 82 yards on 20 carries and his score.

But the Bills, without Allen's favorite target this season, Khalil Shakir, had no answer for what the Texans brought forward with their pass rush.
