The Texas Lottery presented a $1 million check to the Sugar Land gas station, which sold a $1 million check Win a Mega Millions jackpot ticket last month.

That store was the Murphy Express near Constellation Field. The ticket was worth $800 million.

Ryan Mindell is the executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission. He said this was the first retailer award he had given since becoming managing director in April.

“I was very excited to win the biggest win in the history of the Lottery shortly after I was appointed chief executive, so I couldn't be more excited to be here today,” he said.

The winning ticket was claims from The Sol Living Trust. The prize is the largest won by a single Texas lottery player.

Retailers who sell a winning ticket will receive up to 1% of the winnings – with a cap of $1 million on their winnings.

The retail prize money awarded to the Murphy Express gas station this week will go to the company that owns the business.

“Murphy USA is excited about the opportunity,” said Jonathan Amaya, district manager for Murphy USA. “We will definitely invest the money in more stores while serving and adding value to the community.”
