Texas vs. Georgia kickoff time, network details announced

AUSTIN – The Texas Longhorns' game against the Georgia Bulldogs on Oct. 19 has officially been scheduled for national prime time.

The SEC announced Monday that Texas and Georgia will kick off in Austin at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC. Depending on Saturday's results, it's likely both teams will remain in the top five of the AP Poll when they meet at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The first SEC match between the two teams marks the first meeting between Texas and Georgia since the 2019 Sugar Bowl, a game Texas won 28-21 thanks to three rushing touchdowns from Sam Ehlinger.

At SEC Media Days this offseason, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart expressed his respect for the Longhorns.

“When Texas and Oklahoma joined the conference, every schedule became more difficult,” Smart said. “… “I have a lot of respect for Sark and the work he does,” Smart said. “We were able to see them play against several common opponents last year. “We were able to see them play in the playoffs. They have a huge recruiting base. They do a great job recruiting, and that includes NIL. … They're a big, physical football team. They are built like an SEC football team, so we look forward to the opportunity to play against them. What a great duel this will be.

The Bulldogs have already suffered one loss this season, falling to Alabama 41-34 in a thriller on September 28th. Georgia now faces another tough test in Austin and has a chance to secure a decisive win.

No. 5 Georgia hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, while No. 1 Texas will take on the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas at 2:30 p.m. CT.
